Human Understudies?

With the storm over

and sunlight skipping across

the fields, crows begin

to strut and squawk, claiming they’re

the bringers of light and warmth.

    The Ojibway author Gerald Vizenor interpreted/re-expressed a number of lyric poems of the Ojibway in his book Summer in the Spring. No. 19 is “Song of the Crows.” Your post reminded me of it!
